
David Moscovitch received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University, following an Honours B.Sc. undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto. He completed his residency at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton, with rotations in anxiety disorders, eating disorders, mood disorders, and schizophrenia.
Dr. Moscovitch’s primary area of interest and expertise is adult anxiety. Over the past several years, he has worked in some of the leading clinical-research centres for anxiety disorders in North America, including the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders at Boston University, the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder at the Boston Veteran Affairs Medical Center, and the Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton.
Dr. Moscovitch specializes in the assessment and treatment of adults with emotional and interpersonal problems, including stress, anxiety, depression, and grief. Dr. Moscovitch’s primary theoretical orientation is cognitive-behavioural and his clinical work is, first and foremost, grounded in empirically supported methods of assessment and treatment. His approach to intervention is guided by flexibility, attention to therapeutic process, and sensitivity and adaptability to patients’ individual differences.
In addition to his practice at The Clinic, Dr. Moscovitch works as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Waterloo, where he holds the Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Research. There, he teaches and supervises students, and oversees an active program of clinical research.
