Dr. Dalton is a licensed clinical psychologist in Ontario and New York State; and she is a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.

Dr. Dalton’s areas of specialization include women’s mental health and couple therapy; and she works with older adolescents and adults. She treats individuals with a range of presenting problems including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders (panic disorder, social phobia, and agoraphobia), interpersonal problems, the sequelae of childhood abuse, (including PTSD), life transitions and adjustment disorders. In treating individuals, Dr. Dalton draws from a variety of treatment models including insight orientated therapy, emotion focused therapy, relational approaches and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Dr. Dalton also specializes in treating couples experiencing relationship distress. Her approach to working with couples is informed by her research on relationship satisfaction – most recently she has studied the effectiveness of emotion focused couple therapy for women with a history of childhood abuse. Emotion focused couple therapy helps couples reduce conflicts and increase feelings of closeness by accessing emotions and unmet attachment needs. This model was co-founded by Dr. Susan Johnson with whom Dr. Dalton has collaborated. Dr. Dalton is currently certifying as an emotion focused couple therapist through the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute.
