Danuta Markiewicz is a licenced Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), specializing in the treatment of adults. She obtained her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. She completed her practicum working with university students at York University. She is a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and of Ontario Association of Consultants, Counselors, Psychotherapists and Psychometrists (OACCPP). Danuta holds certifications in Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness.

Danuta considers herself an intuitive therapist with the ability to closely attune to her clients, creating a strong and authentic therapeutic alliance. With the use of Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), Danuta helps clients learn to become observers of their moment-to-moment experiences, inviting an openness, curiosity and non-judgment stance into each moment. The connection with the present moment helps clients change the way they relate to their difficult and distressing inner experiences, such as painful thoughts, feelings, urges, memories, and physical sensations. Clients regain sight of what they value in the core of their being that gives their life purpose and meaning. Using cognitive, behavioural and acceptance-based strategies, clients learn to strengthen their adaptive responses to difficult emotions and situations. They go on to build healthier, happier and fuller lives.

Danuta has over 4 years of experience, working with clients from diverse backgrounds, experiencing mental health issues (depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks); emotional distress related to personal issues (school, work, family, finances, relationships); poor self-image, low self-esteem or confidence; anger, frustration, guilt, shame, or worry; grief and loss; social disengagement; loneliness or life crisis.
