The Clinic on Dupont - Clinical Psychology

Madelaine Shane (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and clinical therapist with a passion for working with and supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Madelaine earned a Master of Social Work at Wurzweiler School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Education from McGill University. Prior to working as a therapist, Madelaine worked as an elementary school teacher at an alternative school for children. This gave her an opportunity to work with children with a variety of needs and learning differences, ADHD, autism and other learning or behavioural challenges.

Madelaine’s approach is to help her clients better understand themselves, their feelings, and the world around them. She hopes to support her clients in building healthy foundations, through the development of healthy emotional regulation strategies and strong relationships. Together, you’ll work to build a toolbox of skills to help manage the big feelings and challenging circumstances you may face when moving through life. Through parent support and consultations, she helps parents support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of their children. Madelaine offers individual and family counselling services that use a strength-based approach and a variety of therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, SFBT, Trauma -Informed, Attachment-Based, Play, Art, and Mindfulness Therapy.

Madelaine connects with clients by prioritizing a strong therapeutic relationship, through trust and commitment to collaboratively work towards client goals. She creates a safe, warm, playful, and compassionate environment. Madelaine supports individuals and families with a variety of challenges but not limited to, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotional regulation, behaviour management, attachment, relationships, and life transitions.
