TREATMENTS

Couples counseling is a productive way to address many relationship issues, with its focus on facilitating communication in a way that allows both individuals to express their emotions and needs. Romantic relationships need connection, closeness and intimacy to thrive, but these bonds can be quickly eroded through unresolved conflict and tension. Many issues can cause stress in relationships, including infidelity, sexual disparities, parental stresses, decisions about commitment, unmet bonding and attachment needs, and incompatible communication styles. Cognitive-behavioural therapy and emotion-focused therapy are evidence-based treatments proven to help couples reduce distress and conflict by addressing the underlying patterns of interaction that are derailing their relationship satisfaction.
