Sophia Tauro is a Masters-level therapist working under clinical supervision. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Dalhousie University and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Adler University, with her graduate research focused on the impact of social connection on young adults, particularly examining the relationship between loneliness and social media. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) through the Beck Institute. Sophia has a particular interest in helping adolescents and young adults navigate life transitions and performance anxiety related to sports and academics.
Sophia’s practice is grounded in her own experience as a show jumper. Competing at the international level has given her a firsthand understanding of performance pressure, which informs how she supports clients navigating performance anxiety and the demands of competing at a high level. Having been a show jumper her entire life, she also knows what it takes to balance high-performance activities with school and other facets of life.
Sophia takes a collaborative approach, working closely with each client to understand their individual needs and goals. With empowerment as a priority, her practice integrates CBT for its focus on equipping clients with skills they can carry beyond therapy, so they become active participants in their own progress. In session, she helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and build practical strategies for moments of stress, whether before a competition, during exams, or in everyday life.
