Lesley Reuben earned her undergraduate honours degree in Psychology at York University and obtained her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto. She has completed all components of a Ph.D. program in psychology and is just waiting to defend her dissertation.  Lesley has done multiple internships in several different areas, working with both individuals and families. She has worked with people of all ages and backgrounds. Lesley has experience conducting individual counselling as well as support groups. Her nonjudgmental and sympathetic nature has enabled clients to feel at ease when opening up to discuss their personal issues and vulnerabilities.

During her internship at Sunnybrook Hospital, Lesley worked in the area of general medicine/neurology. In this capacity, she acquired clinical experience by providing counselling to individuals and/or their families to address the upset/shock associated with an illness entering the family. Here Lesley worked closely with a multidisciplinary assessment team where she provided clinical reports and updates during rounds.

At her internship at Baycrest Hospital, Lesley conducted thorough psycho-social assessments. She provided support and counselling to those clients who were deemed depressed or anxious. Lesley also led a weekly support group for individuals living in a retirement setting.

Lesley also did an internship at the Self-Management Group, a firm which focused on assessing employment satisfaction within different organizations. She worked with businesses in order to improve performance levels within the organization.

Lesley works from a client-centred, eclectic framework with a focus on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as well as Emotion Focused Therapy. She focuses on client’s strengths and encourages them to become collaborative partners in the therapeutic process.
