Amy Kaiser earned a Masters in Counseling Psychology at Columbia University in New York and earned a Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in Behavioural Sciences in the Department of Public Health Sciences. Following this, Amy did post-doctoral work in the Cancer Genetics Department at The Hospital for Sick Children.

In a collaborative, compassionate and non-judgemental environment, Amy draws on evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral and solution-focused strategies, among others, to best suit the individual needs of her clients. Amy supports clients in identifying and modifying thoughts and behaviours that are negatively impacting their emotions and sense of well being. She counsels in the area of stress, depression, and interpersonal relationships, as well as work-related issues, life transitions, adjustment issues, and grief counselling. Amy has a particular interest in issues of women’s mental health. Amy Kaiser also has expertise in the area of genetic health psychology, facilitating coping and decision making in areas related to genetic testing and carrier status.

Amy Kaiser is an Adjunct Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Toronto, where she lectures in the M.Sc. program in Genetic Counselling on a number of clinical issues.
